Lovely School Library event

I really love chatting with book groups and it was a particular pleasure to visit Emma Suffield’s brilliant group of passionate readers at St Wilfrid’s School, Blackburn. The school is fortunate to have a large and well-equipped library, including a space for quiet reading. I spoke about my journey to publication and some of the highlights of researching for a series like the Ink Trilogy.

There were fantastic questions, and my personal highlight was getting book recommendations from the students.

Emma has had a real impact in the school and it’s clear that the library is a place where students feel welcome and safe. I was seriously impressed by the pupils and their love of books – so many voracious readers. It was really encouraging. I’m hoping to go back and do a writing workshop as there are some inspiring writers in the school who would appreciate some guidance on getting story ideas and knowing how to get writing.

I find school visits pretty terrifying – I’m not a teacher and I don’t know how teachers do it, but I love love love low-key events like this where there is plenty of space to chat and share ideas.
